Here is a bit more about Bob in his own words:

Aside from my role as a Wealth Management Consultant, I am an enthusiastic wood worker. The passion for woodwork has been passed down from my Sicilian grandfather and father, which I hope to eventually pass down to my own son, Alex. Building sheds, decks, flower boxes, and renovating the house are just some of the projects I have completed over the past few years. The feeling of completing a project is intensely fulfilling and I enjoy overcoming all the challenges that come along with building. If you have similar interests, I’d love to share some of my work with you.

In addition to woodworking, I enjoy spending time with family, listening to podcasts, and playing and watching sports. Throughout my teenage years, I spent most of my time playing basketball and whiffle ball at Arnold Park in Abington, MA. Unforgettable memories were made with neighborhood friends, as they say, “until the streetlights came on”. Eventually, my sporting interests changed, and I began competing in triathlons and endurance races instead. My longest race was 8 hours and 55 minutes. Now, as I get older and the injuries have mounted, I have transitioned again to more low impact sports, like cornhole, golfing, tennis, and coaching my kid’s sports teams.

Just like my interests in sports have evolved over time, so have my career choices on the way to becoming a financial planner. My father was the sole owner of a satellite dish installation company for many years, called LoPorto Satellite, where I began working as his assistant at a very young age. While burning my feet on a roof, 30 feet above the ground, all day long, I daydreamed about exploring something different as a career. So, as a junior in college, I began my journey working as an intern at Abington Savings Bank. From there, I moved to Sovereign Bank, and Boston Financial Data Services in Quincy after that. Eventually, I transitioned to Commonwealth Financial Network in Waltham, where I stayed for 12 years. Finally, in 2017, I joined the team at Axial Financial.

Myself, my wife Lindsay, son Alex, and daughter Ava, live in Dedham and are all very active in the community. I am an elected member of the legislative branch in Dedham, Assistant Director of the Dedham Youth Basketball Board, Chair of the Dedham Open Space and Recreation Committee, and my family and I deliver food to the Dedham Food Pantry regularly. We are also heavily involved in our children’s schools, where I coached most of Alex and Ava’s baseball and basketball teams, and Lindsay was named PTO president.

Alex and Ava have followed in our footsteps and enjoy being involved in the community too.

Alex and I recently renovated a basketball court in town (which you can read more about here): Father and son repair basketball court, and Ava is a part of the Action Group at her school, which helps with community clean ups and projects.

As a family, we love finding great shows to watch on Netflix, weekly cookouts with our friends during the summer, and exploring new places to take special family vacations. Our favorite place to vacation thus far is Universal Studios, Orlando. We have two wonderful (most of the time) dogs named Coco and Pepper, who keep us on our toes and like to join in the family fun.

For the times I get to myself, mostly while on the road, I enjoy listening to podcasts and have really taken an interest in true crime, movie reviews, and podcasts surrounding the well known TV series, “The Office”.

Now that you know a lot about me, I look forward to learning more about you. We can talk finance, woodwork, or podcasts. I’m all ears.
